SPR107: Development Of An Underwater Robotic System For Autonomous Navigation And Acoustic-Based Surveillance With SLAM And Coral Mapping Optimization

Chen Pek Hui ASIA PACIFIC UNIVERSITY

The “Development of an Underwater Robotic System for Autonomous Navigation and Acoustic-Based Surveillance with SLAM and Coral Mapping Optimization”, addresses challenges in classifying coral in real-time monitoring. Utilizing Raspberry Pi 5, cameras, sensors, and waterproof housing, the system monitors marine life underwater while controlling the robot from the platform. Data is collected through sensors and the camera with a graphical user interface that is designed as a control system for the robot while it is underwater. The purpose of building this robot is to observe marine life, especially coral, to know their species, while offering a scalable and cost-effective solution for modern technologies.
